People can make better decisions if they have an informed understanding of how something works. If we are to work together we will need to specify the goals, methods, risks and benefits of treatments, the approximate time commitment involved, costs and other aspects of your particular situation. Here are some aspects of working together as I see and practice it:
 *        Clients I work with often seek assistance for difficulties adjusting to life events. I am committed to promoting each individual's strengths and personal success in the search for resolution of the "problems" being worked on. I do not take on clients whom, in my professional opinion, I cannot help. If at any time you or I believe our relationship is not helpful to you I will refer you to another professional.
*        Any personal gain depends on your active involvement, as well as my assistance, in facilitating change in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You will have work to do both in and outside of our sessions. There are no instant, painless, or passive cures. There may be homework assignments, specific exercises, or other projects. Most importantly, you will have to work on relationships and make long-term efforts. Progress is usually made by first setting realistic and "concrete" goals and, while sometimes seemingly swift and effortless, is more often a slow and deliberate process.
*        I will only use techniques that I feel are most likely to be beneficial to you in the full process of our work together.
